ELEVATING COFFEE AND COMMUNITIES: OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH ACE2030

We’re always looking for ways we can increase our impact through the decisions we make when we purchase our coffee. Our partnership with ACE2030, a pioneering initiative by Agri Evolve Ltd, reflects this commitment, focusing on sustainable coffee farming in the Rwenzori region of Uganda.

ACE2030

ACE2030, an acronym for Agriculture, Community, and Environment, is a 10-year programme initiated by Agri Evolve. This programme represents the integration of these crucial elements, showcasing Agri Evolve's dedicated effort in enhancing agriculture, nurturing communities, and protecting the environment. It is a testament to their commitment to creating a sustainable future for the Rwenzori region, balancing economic growth with ecological and social responsibility.

NURTURING AGRICULTURE
Our collaboration with Agri Evolve is focused on enhancing both the quality and quantity of Rwenzori Arabica Coffee. This initiative plays a crucial role in improving the living income of farmers in the Rwenzori region, empowering them to provide better for their families. By elevating the quality of coffee produced, we contribute to raising the profile and value of Rwenzori coffee, benefiting farmers across the region.

STRENGTHENING COMMUNITY BONDS
At the heart of ACE2030 is an unwavering commitment to community development. The program encompasses a range of initiatives, including gender equality and youth entrepreneurship projects, each contributing to building stronger, more resilient communities. These efforts include vital infrastructure projects like the construction of pit latrines and water boreholes, significantly improving the quality of life in local communities.

COMMITMENT TO ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
Environmental conservation is a central tenet of our efforts. Initiatives under ACE2030, such as tree planting and the distribution of energy-efficient stoves, are essential in promoting a sustainable environment. These projects aim not only to contribute to the ecological health of the Rwenzori region but also to create a sustainable model for coffee farming that respects and preserves the natural environment.

OUR COMMITMENT

Our collaboration with ACE2030 and Agri Evolve includes a significant environmental initiative: tree planting. We are actively contributing towards ACE2030's ambitious goal to plant 5,000,000 trees over the next 10 years, aiming to address climate change, reverse deforestation, and reduce soil erosion in the Rwenzori region.

1KG = 1 TREE

For every kilo of our Ugandan coffee sold, we dedicate 40p to tree planting, matching the approximate cost to plant one tree. This contribution is a key part of our mission, demonstrating our dedication to sustainable practices and environmental responsibility. By collaborating with tree nurseries and local farmers, we support a greener future and the ecological well-being of the Rwenzori Mountains. Our involvement in this reforestation effort underscores our commitment to both environmental stewardship and sustainable coffee farming.

THE COFFEE

In the Rwenzori Mountains of Uganda, at altitudes ranging from 1600 to 2000 meters above sea level (m.a.s.l.), lies the Kyondo region. This area is distinguished by its unique terroir, which provides ideal growing conditions for coffee. The high altitude, coupled with the region's specific climate and fertile soils, contributes to producing coffee beans with a distinct profile. Our upcoming collaboration with Agri Evolve is set to bring the best of the region’s coffee to the forefront, highlighting the area’s exceptional contribution to the world of coffee.

Our first cofffee comes from Masereka Adonia, working at the Kyambithi Buying Centre, who stands as a testament to the dedication inherent in Kyondo's coffee production. His efforts in overseeing the harvest and processing ensure that each bean is a representation of the region's commitment to quality.

TASTING NOTES
The coffee presents a harmonious blend of chocolate, fudge, red fruit, and citrus notes, reflecting the richness and diversity of its Rwenzori origins.

As a family-run 'profit for purpose' business, Agri Evolve is an organisation we are extremely proud to work with. Their team, spread across Uganda and the UK, works tirelessly with farmers, ensuring a positive impact on both the land and the community.
